📢 LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: Is a Taser a Firearm?
Currently, federal law says "Yes"—but a new bipartisan bill is looking to change that.
The Problem: A 1960s Law in a 2026 World ⚖️
Under the Gun Control Act of 1968, any device that uses an "explosive" to fire a projectile is legally a firearm.
Modern de-escalation tools, like the TASER 10, use a tiny explosive primer to launch probes with better accuracy. Because of this, the ATF has to regulate these non-lethal tools exactly like handguns. This means:
📄 Massive paperwork for police departments.
💰 Extra excise taxes on safety equipment.
🚚 Strict shipping and storage hurdles.
The Solution: H.R. 2189 🛡️
The Law-Enforcement Innovate to De-Escalate Act (introduced by Rep. Scott Fitzgerald) creates a new legal category: "Less-than-lethal projectile devices."
This bill cuts the red tape by exempting these tools from "firearm" status, provided they: ✅ Don't exceed 500 feet per second. ✅ Can’t fire standard ammunition. ✅ Are designed solely to incapacitate, not kill.
Current Status 🏛️
The House Judiciary Committee has officially reported the bill, and it’s now sitting on the Union Calendar. This means it’s cleared the hurdles and is headed for a full vote on the House floor.
The Goal: Make it easier for law enforcement to carry tools that save lives instead of taking them.

📂 THE VAULT IS OPEN: The Epstein Files are Public.
After years of speculation and legal battles, the "Epstein Files Transparency Act" (H.R. 4405) has officially completed its mission.
The "Stonewall" is Broken 🛑
For too long, millions of pages of evidence regarding the Epstein-Maxwell sex trafficking network were locked away in DOJ archives. The public—and the survivors—were left with more questions than answers about who was involved and how it stayed hidden for decades.
What’s Inside the 3.5 Million Pages? 🔍
H.R. 4405 didn't just ask for a summary; it demanded the receipts. The now-public database includes:
✈️ Flight Logs: Complete records of travel and passengers on Epstein's private jets.
👥 The "List": Names of government officials and powerful figures referenced in investigative files.
🏛️ DOJ Communications: Internal memos regarding the initial 2008 "sweetheart deal" and subsequent probes.
Why It Matters ⚖️
This wasn't just about a single criminal—it was about systemic accountability. By forcing the DOJ to put these files in a searchable public format, H.R. 4405 ensured that the truth is no longer a government secret.
"Transparency is not a suggestion; it’s a requirement for a functioning Republic."

🛡️ DEFENSE UPGRADE: The U.S.-Israel Partnership Goes High-Tech
The battlefield is changing, and a new bipartisan bill in the Senate is looking to ensure the U.S.-Israel alliance changes with it.
The Shift: From Munitions to Microchips 🛰️
Traditional military aid is no longer enough to counter modern threats like autonomous drones and cyber warfare. S. 554 (The United States-Israel Defense Partnership Act of 2025) aims to "future-proof" our cooperation by focusing on the next generation of defense technology.
The Blueprint for Innovation 🛠️
This isn't just about hardware; it’s about a shared technological edge. Key provisions include:
🚫 Counter-Drone Program ($150M): Annual funding to develop and deploy systems that can stop unmanned aerial threats before they strike.
🧠 AI & Emerging Tech ($47.5M/Year): Joint research into Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and robotics to stay ahead of Iranian technological advances.
🏢 DIU Office in Israel: Establishing a Defense Innovation Unit office in Israel to bridge the gap between commercial tech startups and military needs.
📦 Global Integration: Paving the way for Israel to join the National Technology and Industrial Base (alongside the UK, Canada, and Australia).
Why It Matters 🌍
As drone warfare becomes the new standard, this bill moves the alliance beyond "reserve stockpiles" and into the realm of joint innovation. It ensures that the most advanced tools for de-escalation and defense are developed together.

Current Status 🏛️
Introduced by Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) with over 30 bipartisan cosponsors. It is currently being reviewed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
"The alliance of tomorrow won't just be built on steel—it will be built on code and innovation."
